In the short story "Interpreter of Maladies" by Lahiri, postmodernism is shown throughout the  story by the use of themes of human nature and by using it to create  different points of views leading to different thoughts between characters reinforced by said themes

Mr. Kapasi Exemplifies the flaw of Human Nature in many Ways  Loneliness and isolation: "I am like that car," Mr. Kapasi said. "Broken. I am not of much use." (p. 3) showing how he thinks of himself as simply a tool and that if he does not provide something he is useless another example is Regret and unfulfilled aspirations he still resented the fact that he had never received a degree in a subject he loved. which leads to another theme Self-doubt:" Mr. Kapasi felt embarrassed as if his talent had been challenged." (p. 20) This shows how These Themes build on one another and a simple action can create multiple effects.

Mrs Das Exemplifies The Flaw Of Human Nature in many ways also Selfishness: "She was gazing out the window, her expression detached, as if nothing in the world concerned her except herself." (p. 8)Lack of responsibility: "Mrs. Das had let the children wander off, had done nothing to prevent them from going astray." (p. 23) and last but not least Deception: "...[she] had been deceiving her family for weeks now, claiming to have a mysterious ailment that kept her from eating." (p. 10) All of these Examples Remind me that someone who is childish and hasn't grasped the world around them still thinks that the world revolves around them and yet somehow this young woman is a Wife and A mother, roles that need you to be selfless, caring, and thoughtful.

“Art imitates life” is a very famous Quote and very true Interpreter of Maladies might have not been made today but you can see the feelings of Mr. Kapasi and Mrs. Das are in our world today and an example of this is the situation that is unfolding in Chicago as a result of Wal-Mart closing 4 of its 6 location On one side of the coin we have activist and Chatham Walmart customer Pam Bosley On WTTW news Stating  “It seems like the ones they’re closing are in the Black and Brown community,”. “This one is busy, so I don’t know what the issue is.” many people are angry at Walmart's choice and the result is Hundreds of People are Looting Walmarts On the other side of the coin we have Walmart the Company Stating “These Stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and they're annual lose nearly doubled in just the last 5 years'' themes of anger and greed are being shown

In "Interpreter of Maladies," Lahiri effectively uses postmodernism through the use of themes of human nature and multiple points of view. The characters of Mr. Kapasi and Mrs. Das represent different aspects of flawed human nature. Mr. Kapasi's loneliness, regret, and self-doubt create a relatable and sympathetic character who struggles with his sense of purpose. Meanwhile, Mrs. Das's selfishness, lack of responsibility, and deception highlight her character flaws, which contrast with Mr. Kapasi's admirable qualities. The story's themes of human nature and postmodernist narrative style are shown in current events, such as the recent Walmart store closures in Chicago. The conflicting views and actions of
